Obituary for Vivian R. Hunt

Vivian R. Hunt, age 87, of Lapeer, passed away March 3, 2016, at Stonegate Health Campus. She was born August 15, 1928, in Davison, Michigan, the daughter of Roy and Jennie Churchill. She married Vernon Hunt on June 25, 1947 in Goodrich, Michigan, and was an active partner in his home construction business, doing office work and accounting. She was a long-time member of the Lapeer Seventh-day Adventist Church and was honored, along with her husband, by the namesake of the Hunt Community Center on Turrill Road. She worked as a nurse's aide both at Goodrich Hospital during World War II and later at Lapeer Hospital and attained her life-long dream of becoming a nurse when she was age 50, attending St. Clair Community College and graduating with honors as an LPN. After graduation, she enjoyed working at Lapeer Medical Care Facility (Suncrest), retiring after 13 years there. Among other interests, Mrs. Hunt enjoyed crocheting and baking, spending time with her family, and traveling.

Vivian is survived by her husband, Vernon Hunt, two children, Donald (Judy) Hunt of North Branch and Gwendolyn Billington of Lapeer; daughter-in-law Shirley Hunt of Lapeer; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Byron (Normagene) Churchill; sister, Iva Hainey. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt befriended the Sanabria family of Colombia, South America, on a mission trip and assisted in the education of 3 daughters, Gladys (Napoleon) Sanabria-Escobar, Silver Spring, Maryland, Azhenedt (Ray) Sanabria, Washington, D.C., and Adriana (Gustavo) Sanabria, Bogota, Colombia. The families remain close to this day. Mrs. Hunt was predeceased by her parents, a son, Duane Hunt, a sister, Erma Cook, and a brother, Roy Churchill.

A memorial service will take place at a later date. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer.
