Obituary for Victor "Vic" Berry

Victor (Vic) Berry, 78 from Attica, Michigan passed away November 15th, 2021, after a brief illness. His wife Geri, daughters Ann (Jan Lauer) Berry and Jane (Brad) Brigham will miss him tremendously. He was also a loving Grandfather to Austin (Ally) Berry Muir, Ryan (Brea) Berry Muir, Ben Berry Muir, Samantha (Darrin) Woodbeck, and Sean (Becky) Brigham. He also has six great grandchildren: Rowan, Sloan, Sylvia, Kason, Jaylyn, and Bryn. Vic and his brother Roy had many laughs and were in close contact until Vic’s passing.

As high school sweethearts, Vic and Geri were married for 57 years and together for 62. Ann and Jane were the light of his life, and he did everything he could to support them and teach them that they could do anything. He always had a “That a Girl” for the smallest of achievements and he beamed with pride with every accomplishment. Vic’s love and devotion to his grandsons included him teaching them to fish, supporting them at every school and athletic event, and being a role model for “family comes first”. He used to say I didn’t retire; I became Stay at Home Grandpa and loved every minute of it.

Vic also spent 38 years at General Motors as a journeyman in machine repair. He would say he spent 7 days a week, 10 hours per day listening to the presses go clackity bang, clackity bang. Nonetheless, he was proud of his union membership and his contribution to the plant. Vic was also a lifelong member of the Masons.

Besides his unyielding love for his family and his work ethic, Vic enjoyed bowling, golf, and fishing. In his earlier days spending time with his brothers, having family cookouts, and playing cards with friends and family were all some of his favorite times. He loved when his nieces and nephews paid a visit. He was just a Great Guy to want to be around and everyone enjoyed hanging out with him.

His parents were Claud and Mary Berry. Vic was preceded in death by his brothers Chum, Bob, and his sister Vernie.

Vic's funeral service will be held on Monday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel. Rev. Gloria Cox will officiate. Vic will be laid to rest at Attica Township Cemetery. Friends may visit on Sunday, November 21st 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 p.m. Due to increasing COVID cases, those visiting have been asked to wear a face mask.
