Obituary for Terry Allen Rogers

Terry Allen Rogers, age 63, of Metamora, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2018.
He was born December 20th, 1954 in Joliet, IL to the late Bobbie (née Finch) and Alvie Rogers.
Beloved husband of Kathryn (née Przybysz); stern yet providing father of Eric Rogers of Detroit, MI and Kelsey Rogers of Allendale, MI; oldest brother to David (Bonnie) Rogers of Plainfield, IL, Jeff (Kelly) Rogers of Minooka, IL, Keith (Jackie) Rogers of Braidwood, IL, and Tracey (Tad) Wilkey of Braidwood, IL; and proud sponsor of the Anheuser-Busch Companies of St. Louis, MO. Terry was also a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews; and notably served as a cherished mentor to nieces Amber Litwiller of Chicago, IL and Kacy Rogers of Chicago, IL, who share his sarcastic humor and infectious laugh.

Terry was a joyfully retired engineer, having been employed by the General Motors Company for over 40 years as a Lead Manufacturing Architect for Global Programs. Throughout his engineering career, he developed a unique ability to fix any household issue—and sometimes, “fix” nonissues as well.

A relentless planner, he took great pleasure in mapping every rest break during his yearly RV trips from Michigan to Alabama with wife Kathy. Terry and Kathy wintered in their RV in Elberta, AL, due to the warmer weather and their love for Elberta’s annual German Sausage and Polka Festival. During summers, Terry could be found on his boat on Lake Lapeer relaxing to the sounds of classic rock—as well as quizzing everyone within earshot on obscure classic rock trivia.

Michigan’s most avid and vocal fan of the Chicago Bears, Terry also greatly enjoyed telling NASCAR drivers how to drive from the comfort of his recliner.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society; or to Residential Home Health & Hospice (doing business as Hometown Home Health & Hospice) 1681 Woodbridge Park Dr. Lapeer, MI 48446. A memorial gathering will be scheduled in the spring, with no other arrangements planned at this time.
