Obituary for Patricia Ann Castiglione

Patricia Ann Castiglione, age 87, passed away November 15, 2016. She was born in Elmira Heights, NY on February 12, 1929 to the late Nellie C. and Charles E. Fell.

Patricia was the loving mother of Stephen Castiglione (Onn), Anne Castiglione, Mary Schmidt (Louis), Peter Castiglione (girlfriend Mary Kay Csire) and the late Paul Castiglione. Doting grandmother of Erin Castiglione, Shannon Clink (Jesse), John Castiglione, Brandon Bergeron, Anthony Castiglione, Lauren Nowicki (Dr. James), Louis Schmidt V (Jill), Carl Schmidt, Rachel Castiglione, Hannah Schmidt, Jayme Castiglione and the late Robert Castiglione. Proud great grandmother of 9 and great great grandmother of 1.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Carl L. Castiglione in 2013 during their 59th year of marriage, by her brother Mike Fell and sister and dearest friend Bette J. McCann.

Patricia was a brilliant woman. She loved reading, crossword puzzles and word games. She had a love of the English language that showed through her words both spoken and written. She never stopped wanting to learn. She was a woman who loved equally, accepted others based on character and embodied the very definition of loyalty. She believed in forgiveness, tolerance and open mindedness. She was fiercely competitive, especially with Bridge and Mah Jong. She believed in equality, especially for women, yet was a stay at home mom until her children were in their teens because that’s what she chose to do. She loved art and culture, volunteering at the Detroit Institute of Arts. She and her husband regularly attended the Detroit Opera Theater and the Detroit Symphony. She was polished and polite, carried herself with grace and had a warmth about her that made you feel welcome. She had a wonderful sense of humor, an uplifting laugh and a radiating smile. She made an impact on those who knew her and will be missed by all.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Home - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Detroit Institute of Arts - Annual Fund Office (5220 Woodwrd Ave. Detroit, MI 48202).
