Obituary for Mary Mae Taylor

Mary Mae (Sanchez) Taylor, 73 of Lapeer, MI peacefully passed away with family by her side on July 16, 2016. Mary was born February 7, 1943 in West Virginia. She was a coal miner’s daughter. She grew up in Detroit. Mary was preceded in death by her father Julian Gonzalez Sanchez.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, feeding her birds, and being outdoors on the farm. Mary rescued Australian Shepherds and had a great love for her Arabian horses. She has been a Professional Secretary, Deputy Court Clerk, 4-H Leader, Real Estate Agent and owner of Industrial Spring Products in Romeo. She volunteered at the Lapeer Library and was an active member of the Red Cross. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Peter John Taylor, married July 31, 1981. Children: Christopher Leo Cantini – Almont, Julianne (Cantini) Endebrock-Howell, James Kenneth Cantini-Ozark,AL , Amber Marie (Taylor) McMillen – Howell, Joseph James Taylor-OakRidge, TN and Kenneth John Taylor – Shelby Twp. 16 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren. Also survived by her loving sister Victoria and family.

A funeral service in honor and celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3080 W. Oregon Rd, Lapeer, at 11 AM with gathering at the church beginning at 10 AM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Capstick Chapel, 542 Liberty Park, Lapeer, on Tuesday, July 19th from 3-8 PM.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Legion Post 16, 1701 West Genesee St. Lapeer, MI 48446 or the Wounded Warriors Organization.
