Obituary for Linda St. Jean

Linda St. Jean, 73, of Dryden crossed over on December 8, 2019, to be with her beloved parents and pets waiting for her in heaven.

Linda was born to Jack and Poppy Grenzenbach, December 1, 1946, in Pontiac, Michigan. She graduated from Clawson High School in 1964 and received an Associate Degree from Oakland County Community College as well as completed courses at Oakland University. She also earned a certificate in Canine Behavior Counseling from the American Institute for Animal Science.

Linda married Roger St. Jean in 1965, and they lived together in Clawson, Mississippi and Germany before settling in Birmingham, Michigan to raise their two daughters, Christine and Denise. In 1989, Linda and Roger moved to Dryden, where she lived out her dream of having a small farm that included horses, sheep, dogs, cats and rabbits.

Linda’s love of animals resulted in her founding and running a dog rescue, For the Love of Rotts…the Michigan Connection, that rescued and rehomed rottweilers in need. She also proudly showed American and Canadian champion rottweilers prior to having her rescue. Linda passed her empathy and passion for helping animals on to both of her daughters.

Linda’s colorful professional life included more than a decade at CREEM Magazine, "America's Only Rock 'n' Roll Magazine," along with careers in court recording, medical transcription and accounting. She also ran a successful house cleaning business for several years.

Linda’s creative spark inspired one-of-a kind Halloween costumes, helped her two girls win numerous school poster contests and landed the family in the local newspaper more than once for inventive snow sculptures. Though her homemade apple pies had award-winning taste, Linda’s greatest accomplishments were mothering her two daughters and, later in life, being an integral part in both of her grandsons’ lives.

Linda is survived by her husband, Roger, and two daughters, Christine St. Jean-Mejia (Louie Mejia) and Denise St. Jean. She is also survived by her two grandsons, Michael and Matthew Mejia. Linda was predeceased by her loving parents Jack and Poppy.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family would like people to consider making donations to Making Miracles Animal Rescue at PO Box 180155 Utica, MI 48318, to help local animals in need.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Fr. Michael Gawlowski will be officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
