Obituary for Lillian E. Phile

Lillian E. Phile age 87 of Port Hope, MI and Okeechobee, FL died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at her FL. residence. She was born March, 15, 1922 in Hadley, MI to William and Lillie Hawk. Lillian graduated from Hadley High School in 1939. She married Alson Phile November 15, 1941 in Metamora. She lived in Metamora for 38 years, owning Phile’s Dry Goods for awhile. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and the Buckhead Ridge Fire Department Auxiliary in FL. She and her husband retired and moved to the thumb.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillie Brandt Hawk; daughters, Betty Lou and Dorothy June; sisters Wanda Stephens, Geneta Simpkins, Doris Bond; sisters-in-law, Elsie Austin and Elsie Phile; Brothers-in-law, Raymon Stephens, George Simpkins, Bill Hobbins, Gordon Welch, Clare Bond, Robert Austin.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Alson A. Phile of Port Hope; daughter, Connie (Robert L.) Stuart of Port Hope; grandchildren, Robert (Kelly) Cramer of Imlay City, Charles (Jennifer) Cramer of Cape Coral, FL., Jodi (Philip) Holtz of Imlay City; step-grandchildren, Robert E. (Tracy) Stuart of Waterford, Kathleen Tarbet of Waterford, Colleen (Paul) Melton of White Lake; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Wilba Welch of Galax, VA; brother-in-law, George Phile and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1:00 pm from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home Capstick Chapel, 542 Liberty Park, Downtown Lapeer. Rev. Arnold Bracy will be officiating. Visitation will take place 11:00 AM until time of service. Memorials to the Shriners Hospital for Children are greatly appreciated.
