each stage of the grieving process.
Joyce E. Newton, age 94 of Lapeer, passed away on February 4, 2021, with her family at her bedside. She was born on April 30, 1926, in Pontiac, MI. Joyce volunteered much of her time to the Lapeer community and was also a school bus driver for Utica Community Schools for 17 years. She loved all the kids she met throughout the years and they loved her. Joyce enjoyed fishing, shopping and travel. She especially loved trips to the Florida Gulf Coast to watch the dolphins.
Joyce was the Matriarch of the family. Through the eyes of her Lord and Savior she valued her family and the time that she spent with them at the many get togethers. Joyce loved being in nature, watching the birds or the swaying trees, and always took time to stop and smell the flowers.
Joyce is survived by her children Judith (Bryce) Geeck and Paul (Cindi) Schaffer; grandchildren Brian (Michelle) Duford, Debbie (Richard) Pugh, Kirk Duford, Wendy (Fred) Hamilton, and Nathan (Suzanne) Schaffer; great-grandchildren Danelle (Kory) Petlock, Jaacob Duford, Michael Pugh, Alexandra Pugh, Jami (Jason) Keen, Tyler Duford, Julian Hamilton, Zachary Schaffer, Anastasia Schaffer, and Christian Schaffer; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Ward William Newton on October 15, 2011; brother Donald Wills; granddaughter Ailene Fisk.
