Obituary for John Michael Gudzikowski

John Michael Gudzikowski, age 60 of Lum, unexpectedly made his transition from this earthly home to his heavenly home on June 5, 2018.

He was born September 23, 1957 to Theodore and Helen Gudzikowski in Lapeer. He attended North Branch schools, started working at GM when he was 18 and retired after nearly 30 years. John married Cheryl in 1981 and they recently celebrated their 37th anniversary together. John loved anything and everything outdoors including fishing, hunting, farming, playing cards, and fixing just about anything- he took a lot of pride in his unique “Polish” ingenuity in doing so. He also loved spending time with and talking to family, friends, and neighbors (anyone really). He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather- saddened by the early and unexpected loss of his first grandchild last June, but excited, anticipating the arrival of his granddaughter this August, and was looking forward to getting to be a grandpa.

John leaves to cherish his memories- his loving wife Cheryl, loving daughter Kayde –and expected granddaughter, brother Bob, and sister Marie. As well as special cousins Mike (Ann) White, and Tom (Bonnie) Gerasimwicz. Plus many other treasured family and friends.

Reuniting in heaven with his parents Ted and Helen, brothers Jim and Bill, sister Margie, and granddaughter Brenleigh.

A celebration of his life will be held at John and Cheryl’s home- Saturday June 16th from 1-4 p.m. Family, friends, and neighbors are welcome to come and celebrate his life by sharing all of the great memories he left for us to treasure.
