Obituary for Jeremy Allen LaBar

Jeremy Allen LaBar, age 41 of Lapeer, passed away May 16, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, April LaBar; children, Jacob, Brody and Jamison; parents, Randy (Diane) LaBar and Marie (Gary) LaBar-Dudderar; brothers, Jason (Jeanna) LaBar and Joshua (Cristian) LaBar; sister, Jessica LaBar (Josh Vanderpool); grandmother, Angeline Maricle. Jeremy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Maricle, and Victor and Marvil LaBar; in-laws, Mary and Edward Jones and Richard Gembel.

Jeremy was born May 20, 1979. He was a devoted father and husband, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandson and friend to many. He attended Saginaw Valley State University where he earned his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. Jeremy became a Design Release Engineer responsible for the development of passenger and knee air bags for Jeep and Ram Vehicles at Stellantis / Chrysler, where he worked for 11 years.

He enjoyed brewing beer, grilling, hunting, camping, hiking, and was an all around outdoorsman. Jeremy was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America including being the Cubmaster for Pack 126 and Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 127. He was the President of the Lapeer County Flag Football League, Coach of Murphy Lightning Flag Football and a referee.

Jeremy also enjoyed reading and playing board games, creating skits and singing songs around a campfire or anywhere in general, always with a laugh, smile or funny face. He loved spending summers at Fife Lake, riding jet skis, driving boats, playing yard games, playing dungeons and dragons with his boys, debating politics, drinking beer, smoking cigars and sipping bourbon. Jeremy liked golfing, bowling, riding snowmobiles, cuddling with his Dachshunds, watching birds from the window and making piñatas for the kids birthdays. He was a handyman and could fix anything always tinkering with any electronic, machine or gadget. He enjoyed lighting off fireworks, usually dangerously, and he knew how to crack a joke at the best and worst of times. Jeremy was a man of God, lived by the Scout Law and wanted to “Do a good turn daily.”

Memorial donations to the LaBar family will be put towards his sons college fund.
