GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
James Peter Kirk was born on March 29, 1929. After almost 92 remarkable years here on Earth, he passed into Eternal Life on February 5, 2021. Jim's life reflected his deep love of God, country, and family. As a young man he sailed the Great Lakes as a Merchant Marine. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jim began his career as a bricklayer and ultimately became a General Contractor. He owned and operated Kirk Construction Company. His talents, workmanship, and integrity can be seen throughout Lapeer, Oakland, Genesee Counties and beyond. He was always beyond generous with his time, talents, and blessings. He started the athletic program at Bishop Kelly School and coached 7th and 8th grade boys basketball. He worked hard to instill character as well as basketball skills in each young man he coached.
Jim married Linda on November 9, 1984, and they were blessed with 36 wonderful years of marriage.
Jim was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, Eagles Club, and the Knights of Columbus. For many years Jim organized and enjoyed an annual golf tournament where he would gather with friends for a week up north.
He treasured his time in Florida with his sister, Sarah, and her family. He loved the many celebrations and gatherings with Linda's side of the family in Michigan. He lovingly referred to his side of the family as "The Addams Family South" and Linda's side of the family as "The Addams Family North". Jim loved them all dearly and they all had such a deep love and respect for him.
He cherished a close group of friends and loved the "Thursday outings with the boys".
Jim leaves behind his wife Linda, his brother-in-law Frank, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and filled his life with so much joy. Jim was blessed with a close circle of friends that he would always count on and never failed to brighten his day.
Jim is preceded in death by his dear sister Sarah Jane Koshko, half-brother Dale Secord, sister-in-law Angelina Marie Davis.
Jim loved Lapeer and so often said "Lapeer has been good to me". With this in mind, if you would like to make a donation in Jim's memory, please consider a local charity like Lapeer Pregnancy Center, Family Literacy Center, Love Inc., or LACADA.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 12th from 3-8 PM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A private funeral service will be held at Lynch & Sons on Saturday, February 13th at 11 AM. Pastor Drew Jolly will be officiating. Jim will be laid to rest at Mt. Loretto Cemetery in Lapeer.
