Obituary for James L. Phillips

James L. Phillips, age 79, a lifetime resident of Lapeer, passed away December 29, 2012. He was born in Lapeer on February 24, 1933 to the late James and Eva Phillips. James loyally served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion in Lapeer. He was an employee for the City of Lapeer DPW for 15 years and later retired from General Motors after 30 years of employment. James was a devoted family man who loved camping, fishing, hunting and casino trips.

He is survived by daughter Cathy (Donald) Darling of Attica, son Greg (Sherrie) Phillips of Clinton Twp., Kelly (Greg) Pettibone of North Branch, Gary (Jennifer) Phillips of North Branch; grandchildren James, Jennifer, Rebecca, Gregory, Jason, Julie, Nicole, Rodney, Cari, Lindsay, Olivia, Griffin; great grandchild Whitney. Also many other loving family members and dear friends.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Beverly Jean Phillips; granddaughter Zoe Jean Phillips; brother Leonard “Bud” Phillips.

Friends may visit Tuesday, 12-9 PM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Capstick Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home. Reverend Rik Schwab will be officiating. Burial at Stiles Cemetery with military honors by the Auspices of American Legion Lapeer Post #16. Memorials to McLaren Hospice are greatly appreciated.
