Obituary for James E. Raab

James E. Raab, age 86, of Dryden, passed away on November 6, 2021. He was born in Pontiac, MI on May 6, 1935 to Ray and Beatrice Raab.

Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. His favorite outdoor companion was his beloved wife Coleen. He had a very strong work ethic, which he passed on to all of his children. He made his career as a master plumber and later in life as a plumbing inspector. When he did take time off, he played just as hard as he worked. He loved sporting events, especially when his children or grandchildren were competing. He also enjoyed cards, horseshoes and his tractors. Jim and Coleen had several homes, but their home in Morley Michigan was their favorite. With forty acres on the Little Muskegon River, there was enough room to enjoy family and hunting. Jim was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.

James is survived by his children Julie (Terry) Eaton, Piper (Dick) Collins, Jodi (Jon) Spieles, Barry (Tracy) Raab, and Ray (Tammy) Raab; grandchildren Nicole (Brandon) Hornung, Robbie (Natalie) Duncan, Justin Eaton, Heidi (Justin) Dean, Erin (Patrick) Collins, Jimmy (Corina) Collins, Brooke (Adam) Bolton, Ben Spieles, Conrad Spieles, Shane Raab, Trey Raab, Patrick Bower, and Keegan Bower; 18 great-grandchildren; brother Mike (Donna) Raab; sister Kathy (Jerry Erickson) Taddia; brother-in-law Randy Murphy.

James was preceded in death by his wife Coleen Raab in 2017; sister Mary Ann Murphy and brother-in-law Nick Taddia.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A private family only memorial service will be held on Nov. 20th at 11:00 a.m. at LakePoint Community Church, 1550 W. Drahner Rd, Oxford, MI 48371. Pastor Bob Holt will officiate. Family may visit prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, and due to Jim’s love of the outdoors, the family asks that donations be made to one of the following organizations that provide opportunities for hunting and fishing to the elderly or disabled adults and/or children.
