Obituary for James Conley

James Conley, age 73 of Attica, passed away September 1, 2020. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 23, 1947. James was drafted and loyally served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors after 37 years of employment as a Machinist. James was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished his time spent with his family. James was an avid Ohio State Football fan. He also enjoyed golf, reading, barbecuing and road trips in his Buick Cascada convertible.

James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diana Conley; three children, Darby Conley, Chris (Maria) Conley, and Kelly Conley; 5 grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Jaci, Alyssa, and EliAna; his brother Joseph (Patti) Hansen.

James was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Marie Conley; his sister Sheri Meyers; his brother William Hansen.

Due to the current restrictions on social gatherings, a visitation in the traditional sense where people would gather together and visit for long periods of time is not permitted. However, it is important to James' family that there is an opportunity for family and friends to enter the funeral home briefly and pay their final respects. With that in mind, visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer on Friday, September. 4, 2020 from 3:00-8:00 PM. In an attempt to avoid large groups of people arriving at the funeral home at the same time, the funeral home and family have established designated visiting times:

If your last name starts with A - E from 3:00 – 4:00, F - J from 4:00 – 5:00, K - N from 5:00 – 6:00, O - S from 6:00 – 7:00, T - Z from 7:00 - 8:00.

Please adhere to the designated arrival times. If you are unable to come at the designated times you are still welcome. Be advised that no more than 10 people are allowed in the funeral home at a time, so we would encourage your time paying your respects be kept brief. Masks are required and please practice social distancing.

A private service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Lynch & Sons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Attica United Methodist Church Food Bank, 27 Elk Lake Rd, Attica, MI 48412.
