Obituary for Gladys Jean Cain

Gladys Jean Cain age 99 passed away May 17, 2011 at the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility where she resided for 5 plus years. She was born in London, Ontario, Canada on December 5, 1911, to David and Catherine Brown. She worked as a lab technician at London Institute of Technology. She immigrated to River Rouge, MI following her marriage to George Herbert Cain Jr. in 1932. Gladys was married for 60 years and resided in Allen Park, MI, Belleville, MI and Fort Lauderdale, FL. She became a citizen of the U.S. in 1948.
Gladys was active in the Girl Scouts and the Allen Park Presbyterian Church. She was a Life Master member of the American Contract Bridge Association.
She is survived by daughters Peggy Nikoden (Joe) of Tucson, AZ, Mary Bengtsson (Karl) of Lapeer, MI; four grandchildren, Cathy Kirk, Paul Nikoden, Todd Bengtsson; six great grandchildren.
A private family burial service will take place this summer at the Michigan Memorial Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI. Arrangements for cremation entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Capstick Chapel, 542 Liberty Park, Lapeer, MI 48446. Memorials for Gladys may be gifted to Suncrest Auxiliary, 1455 Suncrest Drive Lapeer, MI 48446 for the wonderful care and loving friendships she experienced while in their care.
