Obituary for Elmer Nathan Curtis

Elmer Nathan Curtis age 91 of Lapeer, passed away March 29, 2011 in the comforts of his home. He was born February 13, 1920 in Caribou, Maine. Elmer married Verna Mae Johnson on February 13, 1941 and they were together for 65 years. Elmer was a member of the Oregon Untited Methodist Church and was loved by many family members and friends. He is survived by his son Milford Curtis of TN, daughters Lois (Jerry) Hinson of TN, Doreen Pike of Lapeer and Raylene (Kurt) McDonald of Lapeer. Also survived by grandchildren, Deann (Matthew) Cole, Tia (Johnny) Phillips, Tonia (Brett) Campbell, Judy (Steven) Brooks, Charles (Linda) Pike, Jeremy (April) Hinson, Jody (Brandi) Hinson, Maria (Chad) Zitterkoph, Sarah Johnson and fiance`, Andy Artress; 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; a devoted friend in faith, Jim Abraham; sisters, Rosanna Humphrey, Idella Peary, Barbara Coroniti, Ella Morne, Esther (Dee) Hardgrove; brothers, Clyde Curtis, Maynard (Sharon) Curtis, Freddy Curtis and Emery (Juanita) Curtis. Also many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae; parents Nathan and Josephine (Searles) Curtis; sister Mildred Woods.
A funeral service will take place Friday, April 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Oregon United Methodist Church (2985 German Road Columbiaville, MI 48421) Friends may visit prior to service at the church from 12-2 PM and Thursday from 1-4 & 6-8 at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Capstick Chapel, 542 Liberty Park, Lapeer, MI 48446. Burial at Oregon Township Cemetery. Rev. Marybelle Haynes will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials to Oregon United Methodist Church are greatly appreciated.
