Obituary for Claire Louise Carnegie

Claire L. Carnegie, 95, of Lapeer, formerly of Romeo, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013.
Claire was born and raised in New York, she moved to Detroit in 1940. She was a secretary at Detroit Transmission where she met her husband, William L. Carnegie, they married in 1946. After raising her family she returned to work for William L. Carnegie Realty, as a real estate broker for a number of years after his passing. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lapeer, Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club in Engadine, and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her son James (Patricia) Carnegie of Lum, MI. Grandchildren Nicole (Joe) Davis, William (Rebecca) Carnegie, James Sheehan, Valerie Sheehan, Vincent Sheehan and Kelly Sheehan; and four great-granddaughters.

Claire was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William L. Carnegie; daughter, Grace Sheehan; brother, Warren Begas.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church (433 Calhoun St., Lapeer) with Pastor Todd Smith officiating. Friends may visit Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 542 Liberty Park, Lapeer. Burial will take place at Grand Lawn Cemetery, Detroit. Memorial Contribution may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Lapeer.
