Obituary for Christine St. Jean-Mejia

Christine “Chris” St. Jean-Mejia, 53, of Attica, crossed over on May 15 to be with her mother and grandparents and the many pets she rescued during her lifetime. Chris was born to Linda and Roger St. Jean on August 7, 1967 in Stuttgart, Germany. In 1969, her family moved to Birmingham, Mich. where she would spend the rest of her childhood.

Chris graduated from Seaholm High School in 1985, attended Michigan State University for two years and transferred to University of Florida, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 1994.

Following college, Chris began her professional career as a veterinarian in Clarksville, Tenn. While living in Tennessee Chris met, fell in love and married Louie Mejia. In 2000, they had their first son Michael and soon decided to move back to Michigan, where they had their second son, Matthew in 2003.

During the next 20 years, Chris was a beloved veterinarian at Hollow Corners Veterinary Services in Dryden, Mich. where she made a significant impact on the people and pets of her community. She became one of the first to practice acupuncture on pets in Michigan, after earning her TCVM at the Chi Institute. You can read about Chris’ impact in the community at:

Chris worked hard but played hard too and lived life to the fullest. If she wasn’t working, she was out exploring and experiencing the world by vacationing with her family and friends, kayaking or finding something new to do.

Chris was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Her greatest accomplishments in her life were raising her two sons and she could often be seen on the sidelines or in the bleachers of sporting events cheering her boys on.

Chris is survived by her husband Louie Mejia, her two sons Michael and Matthew Mejia, her father Roger St. Jean and her sister, Denise St. Jean (Brad Nasiff). In lieu of sending flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a college fund for Michael and Matthew via:
