Obituary for Charlie Wilbur Barker III

Charlie Wilbur Barker III of Fostoria, passed away on the evening of April 14th, surrounded by his family after a tough fight with leukemia at the age of 71.

Charlie was born in Durango, Colorado on February 9th, 1949, the third child, and the first son to Mary and Charlie Barker, Jr.

Charlie was a teacher and mentor to all those who met him. He was insightful, creative and gave great, cozy hugs. Charlie loved being outdoors fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, golfing and working with his hands. He also enjoyed bowling. Being a scout master, baseball coach, and stalwart friend left a lasting impression on each person he met.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda; his children, Cheryl, Philip (Sarah), and Dick (Ruth); his grandchildren, Randi, Hailey, Acacia, Carson and Jackson; his brother Thomas Barker; sisters Carol McDonald and Shirley Rose.

A remembrance celebration will be scheduled in the future. The family would like to thank Dr. Patrick Burke and his team at University of Michigan for their care in helping Charlie with his battle, the team at McLaren Hospice for their help in his transition, and their amazing family and friends for all of their support and love.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer.
