Obituary for Alson Albert Phile

Alson Phile, 90, of Port Hope, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Huron Memorial Hospital in Bad Axe. He was born January 27, 1921 to Alsom and Verna (Johnson) Phile, in Pontiac where he was raised. He married Lillian Hawk of Hadley, on November 15, 1941, in the parsonage of the Pilgrim Congressional Church in Metamora. Together Lillian and Alson lived in Metamora for 38 years, owning Phile’s Dry Goods and TV Sales and Service. Al also owned a farm and worked for General Motors for 30 years. After retirement they moved to Caseville, then Port Hope, spending their winters at their home in Okeechobee, Florida.

Al is survived by his daughter, Connie (Robert) Stuart of Port Hope; brothers, George Phile of Flint; sister, Emmabelle Backman of Texas; grandchildren, Robert (Kelly) Cramer of Imlay City, Charles (Jennifer) Cramer of Cape Coral, FL, Jodi Holtz of Port Hope; step-grandchildren, Robert (Tracy) Stuart of Waterford, Kathleen Tarket of Waterford, Colleen (Paul) Melton of White Lake; 18 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Al was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lillian; daughters, Betty Lou, Dorothy June; his parents; his father and mother-in-law; sister, Elsie Phile-Austin; and five sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Metamora-Hadley Masonic Lodge in Al’s name.

On Friday, July 8, 2011 at Lynch & Son Funeral Home, Lapeer, the family will receive friends from 12:00noon-2:00pm. As a lifetime member, a Masonic memorial and funeral service will be at 2:00pm.
